SENSIO’s History

Concept development (September 1998 to December 1999)

For many years, the promoters, Nicholas Routhier and Richard LaBerge, have been enthusiastic about new computer sciences, electronics and telecommunication technologies. In September 1998, they came up with the idea to develop a technological solution allowing viewers to live through immersive experiences as close as possible to reality in the comfort of their home.

Pre-start activities (January 2000 till June 2003)

In January 2000, with a concept in mind, the promoters created a genuine technological enterprise and developed their first technological solution. For three and a half years, up until June 2003, the promoters’ idea developed into a technology actually in the process of obtaining its patent letters to an enterprise strongly implemented in two industries practically unknown to them in the past: the medium/top-of-the-line home theater industry and the video distribution industry. During this period, the enterprise went from a three part-time employee enterprise to a five full-time employee company. You will find hereafter a brief overview of the transition steps:

Enterprise creation and marketing (July 2003 until today)

Following the successful development of the enterprise and its primary products (3D mixing service and SENSIO® S3D-100 processor), the promoters tackled the complex marketing task. Since the two products aim for two entirely different industries, they had to conduct two bridging advertising campaigns with inter relating successes. The existing team successfully roused to the challenge. Here is a brief overview to their accomplishments during this critical period:

  • Eminent technology awaiting its USA patent letters and PCT in : China, India, Japan, Europe, Canada;
  • A 40 films library including 8 from major films studios : Disney and Universal;
  • Major Hollywood producer support : Cameron, Rodriguez, Oedekerk, etc.;
  • Lightning success of the professional services : clients such as Dreamworks, Disney, Miramax and ILM secured in less than a year; and
  • Advanced discussions with major manufacturers pertaining to the integration of the technology in the video devices of: Toshiba, JVC, Sharp, Marantz, Texas Instrument.
